The award winning Gryphon Trio are one of Canada’s busiest and most well known chamber ensembles. They are celebrating their 15th anniversary this year, a career that has seen the Trio perform across North America and the world, from jazz and salsa clubs to major concert halls. In keeping with their constant search for diverse performance opportunities, the Gryphon Trio involved themselves endeavours such as a Christos Hatzis multi-media opera, and performing miniature piano trios composed by Toronto area arts high school students.
Their 2003 recording featuring a program of contemporary composers, Canadian Premieres, was awarded a Juno, Canada’s most prestigious recording accolade. Other recordings that have been praised very highly include recordings of Schubert and Shostakovich trios.
